Includes Yakuza: Like A Dragon and the entire Kazuma Kiryu saga.
The acclaimed Yakuza series, incorporating the Kazuma Kiryu saga and latest entry Yakuza: Like A Dragon are coming to PlayStation Plus in 2022. Anyone who’s been intrigued by Sega’s long-running series will be able to experience its signature mix of crunchy combat, explorable districts, mini-games and fascinating storylines starting next month.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon joins the PlayStation Plus Monthly Games lineup in August. PlayStation Plus Extra and Premium members can begin Kazuma Kiryu’s epic journey through the criminal underworld with Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami and Yakuza Kiwami 2 when the titles launch as part of the August Game Catalog lineup.
Then later this year, for Extra and Premium members, Kiryu’s story concludes with Yakuza 3 Remastered, Yakuza 4 Remastered, Yakuza 5 Remastered and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life.
Let’s take a quick look at each title in turn.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon | August | PlayStation Plus Essential / Extra / Premium
Level up from underdog to dragon in this action RPG. Ichiban Kasuga, a low-ranking grunt of a low-ranking yakuza family in Tokyo, returns to society after serving 18 years for a crime he didn’t commit. Uncover the truth behind his family’s betrayal while exploring – and fighting – your way across a modern-day Japanese city. Build a party from a ragtag group of society’s outcasts, spending time with them to unlock new abilities and combo skills. Take time off from your quest to immerse yourself in go-karting, arcade games or 50 substories.
Yakuza 0 | August | PlayStation Plus Extra / Premium
The glitz, glamour, and unbridled decadence of the 80s are back in Yakuza 0. Fight like hell through Tokyo and Osaka with protagonist Kazuma Kiryu and series regular Goro Majima. Play as the former to discover how he finds himself in a world of trouble when a simple debt collection goes wrong. Then, step into the silver-toed shoes of Goro Majima and explore his “normal” life as the proprietor of a cabaret club.
Yakuza Kiwami | August | PlayStation Plus Extra / Premium
The first Yakuza title debuted in 2005 on PS2. This PS4 remake rebuilds that experience from scratch. Follow the early days of Kazuma Kiryu as he returns to the streets of Japan after serving a decade-long prison sentence for a crime he didn’t commit to save his best friend.
Yakuza Kiwami 2 | August | PlayStation Plus Extra / Premium
Yakuza’s sequel receives the remake treatment, not only updating the original but expanding it with a playable adventure starring Goro Majima set before the events of the main game. A year after the events of the first Yakuza, an assassination pulls Kazuma Kiryu out of a peaceful life to broker peace between rival clans and face off against Ryuji Goda, known as the Dragon of Kansai.
Yakuza 3 Remastered | PlayStation Plus Premium
Kazuma Kiryu had earned his retirement. Yet he’s ripped from his new life as caretaker of an orphanage when a shadow from his past threatens to entangle his new life with that of his old clan and the political world. Adventure through the sleepless city of Kamurocho, Tokyo and the tropical lands of Okinawa to help rescue his new wards.
Yakuza 4 Remastered | PlayStation Plus Premium
The Yakuza story expands as the first time in the series you’ll control multiple protagonists, four souls – a loan shark, a death-row inmate, a corrupt cop and legendary former yakuza Kazuma Kiryu – are drawn together to solve a murder. Unravel a hidden battle over money, power, status, and honor as well as the mysterious woman at the center of it all.
Yakuza 5 Remastered | PlayStation Plus Premium
Multiple perspectives once again shape a sprawling story as peace between the Tojo Clan and Omi Alliance disintegrates. Play as five different characters, including Kazuma Kiryu, across five major cities whose stories are interwoven as the yakuza organizations go to war.
Yakuza 6: The Song of Life | PlayStation Plus Extra / Premium
The conclusion of Kazuma Kiryu’s epic story sees the Dragon of Dojima take on the responsibility of foster father as he seeks to protect his young ward Haruto and discover the mystery behind the grevious attack on Haruto’s mother. Explore Onomichi, Hiroshima and with the help of some unlikely friends, delve back into a merciless criminal underworld, outwit the clans seeking Haruto and find the answers you seek.

What an absolutely delightful surprise. Hell yeah!
For sure. I really like the new revamped PS+
They keep giving great games on the basic tier. The Extra tier is getting much love.
One tier that is a disappointment is the Deluxe tier. Premium Tier has many PS3 games, but Deluxe has almost nothing in it, and for some unknown reason it’s the same price.
At least only make it only 10$ instead of 20$ if it’s missing one of the main features.
In order for people to get excited and subscribe to the highest tier.
You need people to subscribe to the highest tiers to invest more in them, yet players need a damn good reason to subscribe to the them but there’s hardly any games.
I say you’ll need a month with over 100 PS1/PSP games with trophy 🏆 support just to get the ball rolling and have people subscribed.
It will be an initial $ lost so that people join in the higher tier in order to get more revenue long term.
is it in the right order tho?
What a gift , never gonna play day 1 anymore! From now on im ps plus fan subscriber suport you 180euro per year have a niicee day !
Cringe
Is it fun making a tool out of yourself in every comment section?
Hey guys, this is awesome.
How about getting Fist of the North Star: Lost Paradise and adding Yakuza: Dead Souls to PlayStation Plus Premium, and how about getting Sega to port Kezan and Ishin?
I second this! There is no reason why Sony can’t add Dead Souls the PS3 game streaming list. I’m still surprised that they haven’t done this yet.
Sucks that Yakuza 3-5 are only on PS Plus Premium
Well they gotta get people after they are invested with the upgrade right.
The best game is stand alone and on plus essential this month so whatever.
This is a good collection to add, they have had some of this on plus already though.
The artificial gating on premium of ps4 native stuff was find off putting. I don’t see the value in ps3 streaming, or game trials when you look at the truly classic offerings it’s very thin so they have to withhold stuff to “create value” for it.
Good for those with premium annual and a desire to do this entire series , honestly most people won’t finish any if these.
RGG Studio corrected this on their Twitter and FB post. Those remasters will also be available on the Extra tier as well.
“Then later this year, for Extra and Premium members, Kiryu’s story concludes with Yakuza 3 Remastered, Yakuza 4 Remastered, Yakuza 5 Remastered and Yakuza 6: The Song of Life. ”

Yakuza 4 Remastered | PlayStation Plus Premium

Is this a joke?
Maybe a typo….The graphic does say all games to both Extra and Premium so maybe just a mistake in that part of the post, it could happen.
If you are extra subscriber what it will cost u to upgrade to premium for only 20$ if you are extra subscriber for 1 year , simple upgrade for greatness! Let them do their ways ! Still happy with extra even without yakuza 3 4 5 if u like them just upgrade!!
Max Sycophant Max mental gymnastics.
“Let them do their ways”
hahahah no how about no. You call out stuff when it is presented and you don’t just bend over because they say so.
They want people to sign up for any tier if their service show value for it, not manipulate customers after the fact.
Just pay $10 to upgrade Forbidden West like they tried to pull on ps4, pay $70 for last of us graphics reskin with same gameplay and no factions, and all the other anti customer stuff they have pulled.
Hasan says just bend over for greatness though, on his base ps4. Meanwhile fans hat buy ps5s and games day 1 are propping Sony up.
This is an easy one for me as i don’t value any of these games but acknowledge the, being good genre ads. I have already played some of these on plus.
You should upgrade to premium Hasan, Maximum shill.
Pls add the english language option for HK region! Why do you guys think we all speak Chinese/Korean? Im from the Philippines and HK is the nearest region available. PLEASE hear me out, pls add the option to download an English version of Yakuza games under HK region accounts. This is racial discrimination! You are forcing us to play chinese/korean only games when theres an English option available! Pls include the english versions in the HK region!
So Yakuza 3, 4, and 5 are only being released on the premium tier? Why is that? Are they streaming only?
Premium tier has all the remasters like Mafia 1 and 2 remaster, god of war 3 remaster, last of us remaster etc. So the Yakuza remasters go there with all the other remasters.
I thought Dino Crisis was coming, I also wouldn’t mind Resident Evil 2-3 PS1 originals.
To me, it sounds like these games are a “supplemental” update and not part of the Mid-Month update for +extra and +Premium. It just seems really early to be announcing the Aug 16 update. But I’m probably wrong.
So the premium updates will be just a big dump of a bunch of games of the same fanchise ? How unexciting. What will be next after the assassin creed month and the yakuza month? The far cry month ?.
One of the coolest things about gamepass is that Microsoft diversify a lot the type of games offered with each update, Sony should learn
Literally played and finished all of these games already including the other Plus titles coming. I personally am disappointed. Have fun everybody else you’ll love everything.
I know is just my 2 cents about this, but why are you guys from the communication department using the same visual identity both on essential games and extra/deluxe tier? I was confused for a moment on wich was what.
To anyone reading; the Yakuza games are maybe the best in all of gaming. You definitely should play them, but Trust me, Start from Yakuza 0 first.
It’s such a great way to kick of the series, and gives you a bonus when you start Yakuza Kiwami after you finish zero.
the best?
😀
Great to hear! So stoked for this.
𝑫𝒊𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒐𝒓, 𝑪𝒐𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒏𝒕 𝑨𝒄𝒒𝒖𝒊𝒔𝒊𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏 & 𝑶𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔, 𝑺𝑰𝑬, 𝗔𝗱𝗮𝗺 𝗠𝗶𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗹 – Thank you GOD BLESS YOU! for sharing this with us even if you are one of the who choosing games!
while one, if not more, of the games in the launch lineup remain missing… (a certain souls game)
“*Availability of games vary by country/region. Please check the PlayStation Plus hub on your console to see the full list of titles available in your country/region”
INCLUDING games that DON’T have a * next to the title here: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/ps-plus/games/
so, if any of these games were never released in your region to begin with, they will NOT be added to this service for your region. probably. because, long live REGION LOCK!
It’s called licensing issues. Sony can’t add games to the service in all regions if the publisher doesn’t agree to it.
All subscription services and digital stores do this, it’s called licensing. Sometimes a company won’t allow their music/movie/game in one region, but they will in another region. Sony has no control over this.
@Tendoboy1984 “All subscription services and digital stores do this, it’s called licensing. Sometimes a company won’t allow their music/movie/game in one region, but they will in another region. Sony has no control over this.”
****
yeah, except they’ve been dead silent about this and haven’t updated it on the website.
so, i am going to KEEP bringing it up until they do something to address their FALSE ADVERTISING!
if the game is not available in ALL regions then offer some clarity and mark it properly on the website. don’t just go silent and ghost people PAYING FOR THIS SERVICE!
“Sony has no control over this.”
****! it is SONY’S service! SONY’S website. and SONY’S false advertising!
if it is not available in all regions, ADD THE * NEXT TO THE TITLE ON THE WEBSITE! otherwise they are lying.
Crash 4, Stray and now Yakuza. Strong start. Keep it up. Thank you.
I already have all eight Yakuza´s games and finished 0, Kiwami 1, Kiwami 2, and Like a Dragon…all of them excellent, with great story (better than most TV shows I´ve seen), amazing characters, many hours of play with long main missions and plenty of secondary content. In fact, these Yakuza games are a masterclass of how to implement secondary content in a videogame.
Although I have them all, I´m glad they will be available on the service so that many people can give these games a chance.
Hey so what is the chronological order of these games? I never played any Yakuza games and I would love get into these. But seeing there are so many of them. I was wondering which one to play first.
@DustScrew
Yakuza 0
Kiwami 1
Kiwami 2
Yakuza 3-6
Like a Dragon
This service is getting strong.
I tried Like A Dragon on Amazon Luna and I really enjoyed it.
All the Yakuza games are already on Game Pass, so it’s about time Sony offered them.
certified hood classics, thank you playstation
Woah!
Now create either PS5 version or Game boost for ps5 for Kiwami 2 and Yakuza 6. XBOX already got 60 fps patches.
