Now that Mercury Steam has finished Metroid Dread, there has been a lot of questions about what the developers that have also made Metroid: Samus Returns and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow are going to be doing next. It isn’t surprising, but there hasn’t been any information about the matter.
Well, there’s somewhat of an answer yesterday. According to a financial report from Nordisk Games, which owns a 40% stake in Mercury Steam, Mercury Steam is currently working on “two large undisclosed titles”. We already know that one of them is an action-RPG being developed with 505 Games. However, the other game is not known, though some fans think it could be a new 2D Metroid. You can see a tweet relaying the matter down below.
One of these games is a dark fantasy third-person action RPG developed in conjuction with 505 Games, as was announced in November 2021.
Mercury Steam has steadily grown to a team of more than 200 developers, up from 160 in 2020.

I’m gona guess the 505 collaboration is castlevania/bloodstained related and due to the success of dread another 2d Metroid is also very likely.

Since we know what one game might be, what are the chances of MS working on a new 2D Metroid game?
Gonna guess that both are Metroidvania related.
