Among Us takes top prize in last month’s download charts.
Everybody knows the holidays are a perfect time to expand your game library and dive in. The charts are in for December 2021’s top downloads, so let’s take a look at what PlayStation owners tucked into last month.
The holidays are also apparently the perfect time to engage in sci-fi hijinks with friends and family. The hidden identity chaos of Among Us takes top prize for December across regions and PS4/PS5, followed by a range of top-quality titles. Where did your favorite game land on the list?

Are we going to get a top downloads chart for the entire 2021 year like we usually do?

I love that Sony is being open and sharing these charts, because as a gaming community we like to know if what we like is resonating more widely. It’s incredible that Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales is doing so well after a year of release. Normally it’s only Nintendo first-party titles that hold their value but Insomniac and Spider-Man has been a great partnership and I’m looking forward to the Spider-Man 2 and hopefully the Venom alien symbiote story.
There are hardly any PS5 games to play, that is why it is doing well. If they had released this game during ps4’s prime, e.g., it wouldn’t do well.
I could care less about what other people are playing, because I’m not a follower.
There’s a lot of sports games and shooters on these lists, but there are some actual good games sprinkled around.
It is interesting to see how different my tastes are from the mainstream.

Splitgate not being in Free-to-Play (PS5 + PS4) top downloads is disappointing. That game is so much fun.
I think the crowd jumped in early, and those people knew about it and grabbed it already.
Personally it’s been sitting on our PS4 Pro untouched for several weeks now.
Suprised to see Destiny 2 isnt better represented. Its an amazing, complex and live game not to mention that Bungies break with Activision and Blizzard to go independant has seen huge improvements to game and corporate culture at Bungie. The just celebrated their 30th anniversary too and deserve more acknowledgment for bringing the gaming world so many iconic products and innovations. Im expecting to see a tv/movie expansion of Destiny universe as well as the growth of both community driven gaming culture and better industry standards being major features of the legacy of Destiny, aswell as a few years more beautiful complex adult content.
As someone who never played it, at this point it feels like an impossible amount of content to jump into brand new.
And there’s just too many great games demanding to be played, and only so many hours in the day.
It’s a good time to be a gamer, but hard if you’ve got a full time job, wife and kids.
@yentair Yeah, I totally see where you’re coming from, as I have the same issue with Destiny 2: I absolutely love it, but I just don’t have the time to play it. And with so many other games out there, I also just want to play new games. But for those that do have the time, Destiny 2 is an amazing game : )
